Once bitten twice shy

A while back I posted a query on my tumblr for a story idea that wouldn't leave me alone:

What sounds better:

• A newly turned vampire who is about 19, and is being mentored by a vamp who was in his 40s when he was turned

OR

• A newly turned vampire who is in his 40s, and is being mentored by a vamp who was 19 when he was turned.

I ask because of science reasons.

Majority ruled that the second idea sounded not only hilarious and interesting, but great for novelty value. Meet Alexander: a 40-something newly turned vampire and his randomly assigned mentor, 19 year old Dimitri. 

I have some idea where their story is going to go, but for now I’m just going to draw snapshots of their lives.
